EASA Summer Conference - Edinburgh

EASA Summer Conference - Edinburgh

You will all be aware of the concerns over the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus across this country from media reports and Boris Johnson’s press conferences over the last few days. This issue was discussed at last week’s very successful Spring Conference in Nottingham, when we hoped to continue with our plans for the summer conference. That discussion now seems to be from another world and time, even though only a few days ago. The situation is changing very fast and it is therefore our considered view that, sadly but realistically, the Summer Conference planned for 26th to 28th June 2020 in Edinburgh is now postponed.

We shall be monitoring national events as they develop, but it now seems unlikely that we shall have a firm steer for a way forward for at least three months. The EASA committee will be reviewing matters, electronically, over the next few weeks and will be looking at what can be achieved as events unfold. We do not want to cancel the conference given the work already done on it and will be consulting all the relevant parties to see what we can do to either set the conference back into the autumn, or move it to the summer of next year.
