Alice Milligan

I am a senior project architect with 10 years’ experience as a fully qualified architect, and I have guided my career into a specialism in sustainable design and the creative conservation of historic buildings. I strongly believe that response to the climate emergency from the architectural community can be best approached by seeking to re-consider the possibilities of reusing, maintaining and conserving the existing building stock as a first consideration. Recently, this has resulted in my appointment as a member to Ely DAC, with a focus on progress towards the Church of England’s ambitious 2030 net-zero carbon target.

Following the successful completion of an additional Master’s degree in Building History in 2023, I am preparing a paper based on the research findings of my thesis for publication. I am fascinated by the cultural influences in design and architecture, and my interest has developed through travelling independently and undertaking voluntary work overseas.
