Francis Maude
Francis is a Director at Donald Insall Associates, where he has worked since 1991. Based in London, he focuses on specialist conservation repair and conservation management plans to guide the whole process of historic building management. He has a particular interest in traditional building materials, their repair and conservation, and writes regularly for specialist publications.
His technical understanding of historic buildings construction permits an authoritative approach to conservation work for buildings throughout all sectors. His clients include the National Trust, the Parliamentary Estate, English Heritage, the Church of England dioceses of Canterbury, London, Chelmsford and Durham, various London-based Local Authorities, as well as private owners of listed buildings.
Francis is regularly appointed as a specialist conservation consultant to heritage projects abroad, particularly in Ireland and the Caribbean. He is Chairman of the Commonwealth Heritage Forum, a charity established in 2020 to share an interest in the Commonwealth's built heritage and support the training of craftspeople and building conservation professionals alike.
