Maria Carballeira

I have been a Conservation Accredited Architect since 2020, when I also joined Historic England. In my regional role, I work proactively to tackle Heritage at Risk sites through our grant schemes. In my role in the Historic Building Climate Change Adaptation Team, I contribute to delivering a programme of technical guidance and training to improve knowledge, reduce skills gaps and increase the confidence of heritage professionals and decision makers in adapting historic buildings for energy efficiency and climate resilience. I also provide evidence-based advice and guidance on best practice conservation methods in the historic environment to colleagues (e.g. Development Advice as part of Historic England’s statutory duties), stakeholders and members of the public.
